LUR to exhibit at Rolling Stock Networking 2025
Lucchini Unipart Rail (LUR), a joint venture between Lucchini RS Group and Unipart, will showcase its sustainability credentials at Rolling Stock Networking (RSN) on Thursday, July 3rd.
Through its comprehensive “Furnace to Fleet” capabilities, the company delivers full-cycle engineering solutions to the UK rail industry: from sustainably manufacturing high-quality steel in Italy to machining wheels and axles and delivering fully overhauled wheelsets and bogies to customer depots across the UK.
This year marks a significant milestone for the company as it celebrates 10 years as a joint venture between Lucchini RS Group and Unipart. In line with its continued growth, LUR is undertaking a major £6.5 million expansion of its Manchester and Doncaster sites to meet increasing customer demand and underline LUR’s continued commitment to British manufacturing.

Supporting industry-wide efforts to decarbonise rail, LUR’s parent company, Lucchini RS Group, uses electric arc furnace (EAF) technology at its Italian facility, cutting CO2 emissions by 75% compared to traditional blast furnaces.
Further demonstrating its environmental commitment, Lucchini RS Group has recycled 8,049 tonnes of end-of-life wheels, according to its 2022 sustainability report - a 50% increase compared to 2020.
Designed to maximise uptime and reduce costs across the asset lifecycle, the company provides non-destructive testing (NDT), including Magnetic Particle Inspection (MPI), Ultrasonic Axle Testing (UAT), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Dye Penetrant Inspection (DPI), and Visual Inspection (VI).
Its component maintenance services include Axle Maintenance, Bearing Replacement, Wheel Profile Monitoring, Anti-Roll Bar Maintenance, Brake Disc Inspection and Exchange, and Tyre Exchange. These offerings help train operators extend asset life, reduce maintenance costs, and ensure the safety-critical performance of wheelsets and bogies.
